MRD Architecture is a chartered RIBA practice that has been creating beautiful homes for discerning clients for decades.
Founded by Mark Robinson in 1994, the practice moved from London to Poole in 1999 as Munden Robinson Architects, now incorporated as MRD Architecture Ltd, having expanded to a team of experienced, talented designers in the process.
Being based in Poole MRD Architecture is a go-to practice for waterside homes. We have designed and built over a dozen houses and apartment blocks directly on Sandbanks Beach and Poole Harbour, and also in Swanage, West Wittering and further afield.
Throughout we have retained our clients in Hampstead, Wimbledon and Chelsea where we are used to working around the constraints of Listed Buildings, Party Wall legislation and London borough planning departments. We also work on our clients’ houses in the countryside, as life takes them beyond the M25.
Beyond homes for private clients, we are experienced in commercial property development from constructing multiple house/apartment schemes, to a restaurant for Soho House in London and designing a Synagogue in Bournemouth.
We take great pride in the fact that most of our work comes through repeat business and personal recommendation. Our busy clients value our problem-solving approach as we try not to involve them in the day-to-day minutiae of the build process, safe in the knowledge that we will protect their interests. Unless of course they wish to be fully involved!
With a reputation for high quality design and attention to detail, we are known for a considered free-flowing contemporary architectural style with elegant construction detailing. We aim to make the most of any location, maximising views whilst retaining privacy, and selecting materials that will age well and withstand any environment. Heavily involved in interior finishing and bespoke joinery, we understand both traditional and cutting-edge design and detailing, and have the utmost respect for craftsmanship.
We generally choose not to submit our buildings for awards due to concerns for client privacy, but we have won an RIBA Award for a new house in Branksome Towers, described by the judges as ‘architecture you want to live in’. Our focus is to continue building homes that our clients want to come home to, and that is enough recognition for us.
“I love the fact that you just give me a couple of things to choose between, and I always like them all.”
“I have been offered millions more than I thought it was worth, but am not selling as to live anywhere else would be sub-optimal.”
“That’s lucky.”
“Thank you for shielding us from all of the stress and allowing us to enjoy such a positive and creative experience.”
